Now how to apply thatch sealers? Well, before applying them, ensure that the surface is clean and dry. The thatch roll should be free of cobwebs, bird residue, wasps, etc. While applying the roof thatch sealer on the inner side put a mantle on wall paintings, carpets, furniture and floors. Remove the rotten thatch and comb the roof.
Never apply the thatch sealer on wet surfaces. Or if you foresee rain sooner, postpone the application. Remember, hot water will make the film produced by a thatch sealer feeble. Now take a sprayer and pour the roof thatch sealer into it. Begin the spraying process from the apex of the roof and proceed downwards. Ensure the penetration is between 2-3 cm. Now repeat the process in the interiors for maximum protection.
If the roof is too small, you can apply the thatch sealer with help of a soft broom or brush. Try covering an area of 1 m2 per liter. It will take 3-5 hours for the thatch sealer to dry dully. In three days it will be ready to function as a protector of thatches from humidity. You should keep the solvent away from sun.
You should take some precautionary measures to preserve the thatch sealer. Keep it away from the children. After applying the thatch sealer, arrange for sufficient ventilation for drying. Don an organic vapor mask when using the thatch sealer. Always keep chemical resistant gloves and other safety articles handy. Thatch sealer solvent tends to evaporate, so close the container when not using it. Never dispose the solution in drains.
If any one has accidentally swallowed the solution, ask him to drink enough water and also fetch medical assistance. In case of an eye contact, flush your eyes with clean and cold water. For a skin contact, wash your hands and skin properly. If suffering a respiratory problem while using the thatch sealer, move into fresh air.
