Tiki Thatch Rolls
Palm thatch roofing is best known as a material used for tiki hut structures and tiki bars. However, tiki thatch rolls are much more than a decorative accent.
Thatch roll is also a renewable resource and a sustainable product whose manufacturing process is simply comprised of hand harvesting, water boiling and drying in the sunshine.
Palm thatch rolls, like all natural tiki hut products, are functional and versatile Ė perfect for insulating outdoor structures on the inside walls, outside walls or roof.
About Our Tiki Thatch Rolls
The Tiki Shack Importer carries a large stock of Authentic Tiki Thatch, available in multiple sizes for your convenience.
Our fire retardant thatch rolls are made from fresh Mexican palm leaves that have been cured, rolled into strips and woven into sheets before being rolled for undisturbed shipping.
The commercial grade palm thatch is tightly braided on the back side and fringed on the front side, to ensure durability when cutting. This saves you money, as only one layer is needed for most projects.

How to Install Tiki Thatch Rolls
Simple Installation But All Depends on the Intended Application!
Tiki Thatch Installation Generally
The roll roofing will require a open air or solid surface; if the application is an existing roof or walls, they will serve as the surface. Keep in mind that this material is designed for a open air roof by installing on a solid roof the life expectancy will be cut down even with the thatch sealer applied and will mildew on a solid roof.
Tiki Thatch Installation for a New Tiki Bar - A Framed Roof
If you would like overhang around all edges then you would start at one corner with our thatch roll create 12" foot of overhang staple every 12" to 18" and do two rows of staples and continue around all edges and back to your starting point. Then start again on the next row overlapping 12" just one direction only all the way to the top of the peak and do both sides. If the application is for a new tiki bar and you desire a circular roof, consider our palapa thatch covers.

Tiki Thatch Rolls in moist, Humid Climates or plywood roofs - Our Recommendation
In such climates Tiki Shack Importer recommends our fantastic and long lasting thatch sealer to preserve this authentic palm thatch roofing.
In many cases, thatch sealer can add up to two years to the life of your thatched roof.
We don't recommend using any of our products in a enclosed swimming pool area. This type of area traps the moisture and will cause our products to mildew very rapidly causing premature deterioration. Also when installing thatch on enclosed roofs the thatch life expectancy will only last approximately 2-3 years in moist climate like snow, excessive rain fall or humidity thus the thatch sealer will not work under any of these conditions. Please consider before buying.

Tiki Thatch Roll Roofing: An Alternative Material for Tiki Roofs
For outdoor entertaining, thereís nothing better than a pool, some drinks, and a tiki bar. Tiki decor has been a popular addition to outdoor landscape designs for quite some time. The rustic, tribal charm and lively atmosphere give any outdoor space the perfect combination of structural integrity and aesthetic appeal to accommodate intimate settings and lively gatherings alike. Artificial synthetic thatch is a great material to work with because itís affordable, lightweight, and durable. If youíve been looking for an alternative to the often costly natural materials typically used for tiki thatch, here are some ways that artificial synthetic thatch can help you.
What is Tiki Thatch Rolls?
Tiki thatch roofs are often made from Mexican palm leaves. These leaves are woven together, braided on one side, or otherwise bound together leaving the opposite side fringed and slightly rigid. This design ensures durability, ease of installation, and structural integrity. Additionally, tiki thatch roofing is lightweight and largely weatherproof, able to sustain everything from storms to scorching heat. These characteristics, combined with its aesthetic charm, make it a perfect option for those who want to create a tropical retreat right in their own backyard.
Who Uses Palm Thatch Runners?
Some of the main customers of the thatch roofing industry are zoos, theme parks, and resorts. These companies and organizations depend on the quality of thatch material and its ability to be transported easily when catering to their clients and creating the look of an island getaway. Themed destinations love the authenticity of palm thatch, and the price point allows them to utilize more decorative features without going over budget. The reasons commercial companies love tiki thatch are some of the same reasons that homeowners look to it as the first choice when creating the ultimate backyard escape.
Which Types of Roofing Are Considered Tiki Thatch?
Tiki thatch roofing includes palm roofing, African thatch, Tahitian thatch, and artificial synthetic thatch. While natural thatch looks wonderful and has its own set of benefits, Mexican thatch offers many of the same benefits at a fraction of the cost. You can achieve the look and style of palm, African, and Tahitian thatch by styling your roof thatch, so you wonít lose out on the aesthetic uniqueness of those styles.
Tiki Palm Thatch Application and Uses
Tiki thatch roofing material can be used in a wide range of projects and activities. The various types of buildings and structures that tiki thatch material can enhance are endless. Many of the snack shacks, cabanas, and jungle-themed kiosks you see at zoos, theme parks, and resorts are made from synthetic thatch. These structures have to withstand the wind, rain, exposure to the sun, transportation (sometimes daily), and storage, and still look beautiful. Given that large establishments and destinations rely on this material says a lot about its reliability, durability, and quality. However, the applications of synthetic thatch are endless. Create a tiki bar, coffee bar, childís play area, cabana, intimate seating arrangements, entertainment areas, and many other backyard items with the same material and achieve drastically different looks. Artificial synthetic thatch is versatile, flexible, and gives you the ability to use design skills and ideas to create a wide range of projects that can look as unique or uniform as you want.
Benefits of Tiki Thatch Roofing
Tiki thatch roofing material is incredibly eco-friendly. Given that tiki thatch is produced by resources that are 100 percent renewable, such as varieties of palm leaves, reeds, and grasses, tiki thatch roofing material is one of the most environmentally conscious and ecologically responsible products you can buy. Not only do the resources that compose tiki thatch grow back quickly, thereís very little damage to the environment required in order to harvest and transport the thatch. Itís a great option for those seeking to turn their backyard into a private island oasis while still looking out for the environment.
Roof Thatching Styles
When it comes to roofing material, there are many tiki thatch style options from which to choose, each offering a unique look and feel. If youíre trying to decide which style you like, take a look at the options below. While each of these styles offers its own design elements, all of them offer the benefits mentioned above.
The Palm Island Thatch Option - The Palm Island Thatch option is made from Mexican Palm leaves and is great for both indoor and outdoors settings. It offers an affordable, aesthetically attractive solution to all your tiki thatch roofing needs. The Palm Island thatch option tends to give off a shaggy, laid back look with palm leaves that are relaxed and loosely styled.
The Tahitian Thatch Option - The Tahitian Thatch option is achieved by tightly weaving palm leaves together and then binding them with nylon. Tahitian thatch tends to showcase a shorter, more uniform look and retain a rich, charcoal color suitable for modern and upscale decor types. Palapa builders use Tahitian style thatch when building and designing for beach resorts because itís elegant in appearance and highly durable.
The African Reed Thatch Option - The African Reed Thatch option is one that is made entirely out of cape reed and is one of the most durable options available. Maintaining a very orderly and uniform appearance, this toffee-colored thatch is the perfect solution for any island booth or cabana design that will have to withstand weathering and wear and tear. Whether youíre looking to decorate your backyard or add some charm to a corporate gathering area, African reed thatch is an excellent option.
Regardless of which option you choose, youíll experience the benefits of artificial synthetic thatch as soon as your project is complete. Itís one of the best materials you can buy if you want to create an island paradise right in your backyard without having to pay the sometimes high costs associated with natural materials. The durability, aesthetic charm, rustic appeal, and eco-friendly characteristics will make an excellent addition to any project and help to create landscaping elements youíll love for years to come.
